About Gnubbs

Man I feel like a dork writing about myself… It is one thing to write about my day to day life, another to just write about me. Oh well. He goes being an arrogant jerk.

I grew up in a pretty small town in Indiana outside of Gary. My dad was a steel worker and my mother is a hair dresser. After going to Chesterton High School, I went on to Case Western Reserve University. My original plan was to pursue Materials Engineering, but I quickly discovered that I loved programming. My first computer was the one that I purchased at the start of my freshman year.

I proceeded through the Case School of Engineering at a somewhat liesurely pace and graduate a semester after my girlfriend, Stephanie. After she graduated, she moved to Japan for a year to teach english. I sunk into six months of senior engineering courses and drinking, followed by another six months of working and drinking. Living in Cleveland was treating me well, but as somewhat of an outdoorsman the crappy weather and flat terrain left me with wanting something else…

As the time approached for Stephanie to move back from Japan we decided that now was the time to move out of Cleveland. After some discussions we decided to move to Boulder, Colorado. I moved out the first of June and Stephanie followed in August or September. After months of working incredibly crappy jobs I landed a gig at a company called Medtronic answering Tech Support calls. Considering the downturn of the tech industry in the area that was as good as I could manage.

The following September Stephanie and I were married and had our honey moon in Hawaii. Over the course of that year I convinced my boss that I should be programming not answering phones and my job started to improve. After playing some business hard ball I had a job programming tools for the support deparment to use.

One of the best aspects of my job is that I work pretty much a 40 hour week. That leaves me plenty of time for rock climbing, snow boarding, and spending time with my wife. Oh, and working on cars. I currently drive a WRX and my wife has a Jeep Cherokee. In the not too distant future the WRX will be back parking on the streets and I will have an old Mustang in my garage. A computer geek or a grease monkey? Well, thanks to todays modern computer controlled cars I can be a bit of both.
